COVID-19 - THE SANCTUARY REOPENING DIRECTIONS/HEALTH PROTOCOL Minimize

As per the law of the State of Texas, guidelines of CDC and the Directions of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston as well as the Directions of the Eparchy of Syro Malankara Catholic Eparchy of USA and Canada, following guidelines and recommendations are communicated to the Parishioners of St. Peter’s Malankara Catholic Church, 3135 Fifth Street, Stafford, Texas 77477 on June 8 ,2020.

  • Wearing mask is strongly recommended and compulsory during the service and outside the Church. Kindly remember to wear the mask before stepping out from your car.
  • Keep physical distancing (6 ft) at all times, only families and couples can share a pew.
  •  Attendance is not compulsory to any of the parish member. High-risk population those who are 65 or older, especially those with chronic lung disease; moderate to severe asthma; chronic heart disease; severe obesity; diabetes; chronic kidney disease undergoing dialysis; liver disease; or weakened immune system are recommended stay safe at home.
  • Those who feel comfortable to attend in the community are encouraged to come for the Holy Mass. Those who are under 10 are not recommended to attend since they are also in the vulnerable category.
  • Only 25 % of the capacity is permitted as per the Archdiocese of Galveston- Houston. So less than 20 families (less than 75 members) are assigned to attend at one time.
  • Kindly do not gather inside or outside before or after Holy Mass.
  • Clean your hands with sanitizer at your disposal or use soap and water before you enter into the main area of the church.
  • Ushers will direct you to the seat if needed. Kindly cooperate with them.
  • Book of Service and Holy Mass will not be provided. You can bring your personal copy, use and return.
  • During the time of Kiss of Peace, no hand shaking. Bow your head to right and left by offering Peace with a loving smile.
  • Receiving Holy Communion- a) Keep a distance of 6 ft in the queue. b) Remove or adjust your mask as you reach to front   c) Receive the Holy Eucharist in your left palm and receive by yourself with right hand   d) Holy Eucharist will be given only in the hands.
  • After the final announcements there will be no kaimuth. However, please wait for the last benchers to step out first. Kindly avoid rush in going out.
  • Donations/kanikya can be offered in the baskets placed in the foyer.
  • Gathering in the foyer after the Mass should be is strictly avoided.
  • For the arrangements of disinfection and cleaning, Covid Task Force is formed. With the help of others, they will disinfect our church after every Service. Members of each area are kindly requested to join with them to ensure disinfection just after the Service.
  • Please don’t put tissues, bottles or anything in the place where you sit. Kindly clean up before you leave.
  • Please avoid touching hand rails, handles, tables, doorknobs, common areas etc. Frequently touched surfaces will be disinfected after every service.
  • Please read visible signage to remind everyone of best hygiene practices.
  • About the participation: - There will be three Masses in Saturday and Sunday in 8.30 am, 11.30am and 6.30 pm (English). Each area will be assigned in particular time slot. We except 20 families only for each Mass. If you need any change in the timing please contact coordinators and interchange with another family. Live streaming will be on Sunday 11.30 am.   • Those who are in close contact with the Covid patients in the medical field are recommended not to attend the community prayers. Holy Eucharist will be given to them as per the request.
  • Those who are coming to the church other than members are asked to give their name and phone number to the Secretary / Trustee. It is mandatory. 
  • If someone is having any symptom of fever or illness during the service, separate room and facilities are arranged inside the Church.
